About

For the last two years I have shipped AI and LLM products as a business analyst — document-processing and knowledge-base agents for Japanese clients — owning requirement elicitation, functional specs, UI/UX design and client demos. Before that, five years as a mainframe developer in life and non-life insurance gave me rare depth in regulated domains and legacy systems: policy lifecycle, claims and batch.

I am a COBOL and mainframe developer with five years on production insurance systems — four on IBM z/OS (COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL) for a French non-life insurer, plus a year on the Ingenium life-insurance core. I am known for reverse-engineering undocumented legacy code to deliver new functionality, and I now apply that depth on AI projects that document and modernise legacy COBOL.

Experience

04/2024 - Present

Business Analyst

FPT Software
  • Sole BA on an 11-person team building an LLM knowledge-base agent for a Japanese client; run client demos, write functional specs and design the UI/UX.
  • Earlier, the mainframe domain authority on an AI agent that reverse-engineers legacy COBOL — defined correctness criteria and validated its output; PoC accepted by the client.
  • Mainframe domain authority on an AI agent extracting business logic, call-graphs and documentation from a large, decades-old COBOL codebase; validated output against real COBOL/JCL/DB2 behaviour. PoC accepted.
  • Currently BA on an LLM knowledge-base agent for a Japanese client.
05/2023 - 04/2024

COBOL Developer, Ingenium

Dai-ichi Life Insurance Vietnam
  • Built surrender-charge logic for unit-linked life products and generated customer documents; deepened life-insurance domain knowledge.
  • Maintained the Ingenium life-insurance core (COBOL on Unix, Oracle, Perl batch); built surrender-charge logic for unit-linked products.
  • Generated customer documents and extracted policy data via Crystal Reports.
04/2019 - 04/2023

COBOL Developer → Senior Consultant

Capgemini Vietnam
  • Four years on a French non-life insurer's z/OS platform, working directly with the client; reverse-engineered undocumented legacy code to ship new CICS screens.
  • Maintained and developed large-scale z/OS applications (COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL) for a French non-life insurer over four years.
  • Reverse-engineered undocumented legacy code to deliver new CICS screens; worked directly with the client across two delivery teams.

A side project: VKey

VKey is an open-source Vietnamese input utility I build and maintain as a side project — a way to stay hands-on with modern application development beyond the mainframe. It ships as a code-signed Windows app, with signing provided for open-source projects by SignPath.io.
